After beginning her career as an Early Childhood Teacher with Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) in 1999, Jessika became an Instructional Coach, and Curriculum Coordinator with OKCPS, and has served as a Reading Specialist and Assistant Principal with MPS since 2015.  Mrs. Hill received her undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education from East Central University and a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Central Oklahoma.  In her various roles, Mrs. Hill has been involved in all aspects of teaching and learning including literacy mastery, student assessment, grading, management, intervention/remediation and even co-created and served as a founding Board member for a non-profit, Inspiration For Instruction, dedicated to supporting Oklahoma educators with free, high-quality professional development.

“Mrs. Hill’s experience is impressive, and we feel it has prepared her to be a great leader for Riverwood Elementary School,” Executive Director of Human Resources, Chris Tobler said.  Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education, Stacy Edwards added, “Jessika is a very strong instructional leader, and her work with literacy will make her a great asset to Riverwood.  We were fortunate to have several high-quality internal candidates for this position, and are thankful that we have such great leadership in our District.”  Superintendent Charles Bradley concluded by adding that “We are excited to see the great things that she will do in her new role.”

“Words cannot begin to describe how excited I am to join the Riverwood Team,” Hill said in a letter to her the Riverwood Staff.   “I truly appreciate this opportunity to work with an outstanding group of educators, amazing students, and community stakeholders.  We are in one of the most unique times to be an educator.  We are facing many challenges, yet we have some of the best opportunities with our Riverwood students, the community, and each other. Together, we will work through all of these challenges and struggles we will encounter this year because we are a team. I can't wait to begin working with each one of you and continuing the great journey Riverwood has already started!”

Hello, my name is Amy Armstrong and I am the new assistant principal at Riverwood.  I have wanted to be in education for as long as I can remember.  My love for children and my desire to see them succeed runs deep.  I find great joy in watching them get excited to learn; those light bulb moments are really worth celebrating.  I can tell you I am here today to serve the students and staff at Riverwood.

My education began in Guymon, OK where I graduated from high school.  I continued my education at Southern Nazarene University where I earned my elementary education degree.  I also hold a Masters of Education degree from the University of Oklahoma.  I began my Mustang career as an Assistant Principal at Mustang Valley in 2018-19; previously serving nine years as a classroom teacher, tech education teacher, and STEM teacher for PK-5th graders at an elementary school in Putnam City.   I honestly loved being in the classroom but felt a calling to serve as a building leader.   I truly loved serving the families and staff at Mustang Valley and am excited about this new opportunity to serve at Riverwood.

I look forward to supporting our students as they grow individually and become the best they can be!  Thank you for your support.
